Labor Day at Wazee Lake!
Black River Falls, Wisconsin
August 29 - September 1, 2008
Travel with Aquatic Adventures, Inc to one of
the most popular diving sites in the Midwest for Labor Day weekend. This is
an experience not to be missed.
Wazee
Lake boasts exceptionally clear visibility, and it is also the deepest lake
in Wisconsin at a maximum depth of 355 feet. Visibility in the lake averages
30-40 feet, and water temperature runs from 70 degrees at the surface to 40
degrees below the thermocline, which is usually around 30 feet.
The lake is the former
site of the Jackson County Iron Mine quarry. The mine was active
from the early sixties until 1983. Divers often find artifacts including
chains, pipes, taconite pellets, and iron shovel teeth. |

Divers begin a dive at Wazee Lake.
 |
Massive boulders and
sheer cliff faces create challenging and interesting features. Divers may also
encounter several groups of fish cribs with an opportunity to see rainbow,
brook, and brown trout, bluegills, suckers, catfish, and small mouth bass.
There also are two underwater forests to explore. The lake is also an
excellent site for night diving when you can see some of the bigger fish
feeding.
