DSAT Technical Diving Courses
Technical diving is non-commercial/non-research diving that involves going beyond the
limits established for recreational scuba diving. Generally speaking a technical
dive involves one or more of the following:
- Diving below 130 feet
- Staying at any depth beyond the no decompression limit
- Penetrating a cave or wreck beyond the light zone or
beyond 130 linear feet
- Switching gases at depth
- Using oxygen, enriched air blends above 40 percent, trimix, or other special gases

Unlike recreational diving, technical diving involves mandatory decompression, gas switching, overhead environments, and depths below 130 feet.

Technical Diving Courses
This course is designed to bridge from PADI recreational diving courses
to the DSAT technical diving courses. Divers have the opportunity to
learn and practice entry level tec diving skills during two confined
water dives and two open water dives. Dives are within
recreational limits using segments from the DSAT Tec Deep course.
Maximum depth: 24 meters/80 feet.
Course start dates: See store calendar or email Aquatic Adventures at
staff@dive-aai.com.
Prerequisites: 18 years old, PADI Advanced Open Water, and PADI Enriched Air. PADI Rescue Diver highly recommended. See
Tec Training Requirements Matrix for a complete list of requirements.
Location: Aquatic Adventures, Inc..
Course cost: $275 (books and equipment rental not included)
This course is intended for those divers who wish to begin developing
the skills and knowledge involved in technical deep diving, including
making gas switches and extended no-stop dives. Divers learn to use
enriched air with up to 60 percent oxygen. Divers also learn the motor
skills required for technical diving, as well as the foundational skills
necessary for completing the DSAT Tec Deep Diver course. Divers are required
to complete 8 open water dives using technical diving equipment. Maximum depth:
40 meters/130 feet.
Course start dates: See store calendar or email Aquatic Adventures at
staff@dive-aai.com.
Prerequisites: 18 years old, PADI Advanced Open Water, PADI Enriched Air, and PADI Rescue Diver. See
Tec Training Requirements Matrix for a complete list of requirements.
Location: Aquatic Adventures, Inc.
Course cost: $275 with Tec Basic certification; $525 without Tec Basic certification (books and equipment rental not included)
This course is intended for those divers with the prerequisite
experience and training needed to begin moving beyond recreational scuba
depth limits. Divers learn to make gas switches, extended no-stop dives,
decompression stop dives, and accelerated decompression dives using air,
enriched air, and pure oxygen. Divers are required to complete 12 open
water dives using technical diving equipment, including 4 decompression dives. Maximum depth: 50 meters/165 feet.
Course dates: See store calendar or email Aquatic Adventures at
staff@dive-aai.com.
Prerequisites: 18 years old, PADI Advanced Open Water, PADI Enriched
Air, and PADI Rescue Diver. See Tec Training Requirements Matrix for a complete list of requirements.
Location: Aquatic Adventures, Inc.
Course cost: $275 with Tec Basic certification; $825 without Tec Basic certification and Apprentice Tec Diver certification
(books and equipment rental not included)
This course qualifies divers
to dive with trimix (blends of oxygen, helium, and nitrogen) that allows
them to descend deeper than you can with reasonable risk using
nitrogen/oxygen blends. Completing this course qualifies divers to dive
both normoxic and hypoxic trimix blends. Divers are required to make 8
open water dives. Maximum depth: 75 meters/245 feet.
