PADI Divemaster

The PADI Divemaster course prepares students for a professional career in recreational scuba. Students learn how to plan professionally led dives, manage other divers in the water, and serve as certified assistants to PADI instructors during training activities. Students are required to demonstrate mastery of scuba skills, swimming proficiency, and a thorough knowledge of dive physics, physiology, equipment, and the use of both versions of the RDP. Students who complete this certification become PADI members.

PADI Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is designed to train PADI Divemasters in how to teach PADI scuba courses. Students are asked to conduct academic, confined water, and open water presentations. They are evaluated on their ability to follow the PADI microteaching approach to instruction. Once certified, PADI Assistant Instructors are allowed to teach the academic portion of the Open Water Diver course under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor and conduct the surface skills portion of open water training dives. In addition, Assistant Instructors may certify students in non-diving specialties such as Medic First Aid, Equipment Maintenance, and Oxygen Administration after they have completed specialty instructor training in these areas. The Assistant Instructor course is an excellent way for Instructor candidates to prepare for an IDC.
