Tragic Auto Accident Takes Life of Michael Keppert

Michael Keppert, husband of store owner Sally Keppert, lost his life in a tragic auto accident last week. The accident took place around 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 9.

According to the sheriff's report, Mike was traveling southbound on I-894 when the tire from a pickup truck traveling in the northbound lanes came off the truck, crossed the median, and struck his car.

Mike was a certified PADI Rescue Diver and often talked about becoming a Divemaster. He actively assisted in remodeling efforts at Aquatic Adventures and also helped run dive programs for kids at the South Shore YMCA. On occassion, Mike also worked as a sales person at the store. Friends of AAI may also remember Mike as a regular on Lake Michigan wreck dives and at Devils Lake picnics.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sally, his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. At the time of his death, Mike was expecting his first child.

Mike was an important member of the Aquatic Adventures family. We will all miss him greatly.
